Family Engagement Stories
Posted on November 30, 2017, by GAPMP
Each year, Georgia Parent Mentors complete a series of reports detailing the family engagement initiatives they worked on in their school districts. This work is based on the decades of research on the importance of families working to support their child in the work of school, and, it shows that when parents are involved, the post secondary outcomes of these children are improved. After all, as parents of a child who receives special education services, we are focused not just on our children’s progress today, but what their future will look like. We work to make that true for the families we serve. And, in the process, hope that we create best practices for other professionals working with schools to improve the level of family engagement and better post secondary outcomes.
