PPA Nominations Open

Posted on February 28, 2020, by GAPMP

Nominate a fellow Mentor, or a Special Ed Administrator you admire, for the Phil Pickens Leadership Award!

The Phil Pickens Leadership Award is a statewide honor, to recognize outstanding leadership in the collaborative work to improve outcomes for students with disabilities; outstanding contributions to the Georgia Parent Mentor Partnership program; and consistent, outstanding leadership accomplishments in special education.  The award is named after the founder of the Georgia Parent Mentor Partnership, Phil Pickens, and will be presented at a special luncheon at our statewide Kickoff Conference in September, 2020.

The Phil Pickens Committee has made some changes to the nomination process.  First, we would like the nominations to be a surprise!  This means that YOU, as the person making the nomination, will write the information about the nominee (without letting them know).  Second, the nomination form is simplified, and structured in a format that gives you guiding questions, so that you can easily describe your nominee’s accomplishments!

Please take some time to think about the work that your fellow mentors are doing, as well as your director and others, and nominate someone for this special recognition!

Deadline for submitting a nomination is Friday, March 30, 2020.
