Parent Mentors in Action
Meet Missy Sullivan from Carrollton City
Carroll County Parent Mentor Kate Carnes and I work in neighboring school districts. We work together in planning the transition fair for our students and families.
Last year, we also developed an online version that included videos from our vendors as well as resources for students and parents. Our categories included government agencies, college/technical college, career/ employment, school opportunities, community resources, day programs/respite, and resources for families
All of our students with disabilities in grades 11 and 12 visit the transition fair and door prizes are awarded. All of students with disabilities’ parents are also invited to attend.
It is a great opportunity to come together and learn. Working together allows us to better meet the needs of our students throughout our community.
