Creating A Partnership

Meet Ulisser Edwards in Terrell County

Ulisser is opening the doors of Terrell high school wide for a Meet and Greet + Workshop event.

This event was designed not only to create a welcoming atmosphere for families, by bringing together families and members of the Terrell County Exceptional Student Department but also opening the door for person to person partnerships with staff and agencies families need to know about in order to participate in their child’s transition plan in their IEP. Ulisser is also creating partnerships with community agencies by offering that open door to those local agencies who can assist families with transition planning.

“During the Meet & Greet we are having a Transition Workshop to educate parents and students on the importance of Transition and how we plan to assist with these goals. We are also having speakers from GVRA and HSHT present as well.”

This allows us a opportunity to get to know the students, and their parents, and, form a bond from the beginning. When you know a person it is easier to help them. We want to let families know that their concerns are our concerns.

As children enter high school parents begin to think about them getting closer to leaving high school and wondering what they will do next. We want to help them prepare for that transition, and make sure they have the resources they will need.”
