Parent Mentor teams up with GeorgiaCAN

Meet Sarah Young in Columbia County

Sarah Young, Columbia County Parent Mentor, teamed up with Patricia Sonnier, who serves as a Parent Fellow with GeorgiaCAN for a zoom meeting geared towards parents of children receiving special education services.

Sarah was a special guest on a Zoom meeting.

Sarah said that the invitation was the result of pure networking. Both Sarah and Patricia are on a Facebook group and the connection helped them figure out how they can collaborate to better reach families.


“I think the casualness of the call worked well. We were able to allow questions and open discussion. I believe it allowed those who were there and those who see the replay to see my openness and my want to help families in the county. I liked the fact that it wasn’t scripted. It allowed me to talk about being prepared but being open in meetings.”
