Former winners share why the Phil Pickens Award is still meaningful after all these years
Amanda Locke, 2020 PPA Winner
“I am proud to be part of the movement of increased parent engagement and active student engagement for students with IEPs in our district. I am proud of the collaborations I have been able to foster through the CAFE and the community events that have continued even when the CAFE did not return after COVID. I am proud to serve my fellow parent mentors during reporting or as region representative. I think the accomplishments I treasure the most are the ones that do not make it to the paper or the website: walking alongside a parent as she navigates what comes with an IEP. Sharing the possibilities with parents who have not dared to consider what the future holds and assisting them to develop a plan towards that future.” – Amanda Locke
Nominations are open until May 16, 2024. Nominate a director or parent mentor today!!!!
